We all knew many industries took a major hit with COVID but one in particular was almost wiped out— the event and wedding industries. Here are some tips on how to find people who have entrepreneurial spirits but are re-evaluating what to do next.

Use your Network:

Search the following in LinkedIn by putting these in the search bar (use these as examples and build your own):

  • “Wedding Planner” AND “Owner” OR “Founder”

  • “Event Planner” AND “Owner” OR “Founder”

  • “Catering” AND “Owner” AND “Sales”

Use Bullhorn:

Go to your Candidate List (Menu >> Candidates)

Click on ‘Search’ at the top

Type “Wedding Planner”, click search. You can also search for “Event Planning” “Event Planner” “Photographer” “Caterer”

Tip—don’t forget to take the filter off when you are done

Research!:

Google or Yelp “Wedding Planners in {city/town}”

Their ratings probably give you a great indication on whether they are a good business owner so use that information to help deliver the message.

Language for Outreach:

“Hi {Name}, I know COVID has had a big impact on everyone but particularly people in your industry. I did a lot of research on business owners in the event space who have the best reviews- you popped up. I am not sure if you are on the market or questioning your next move but I’d love to share a little more about the opportunity with our firm if you are open to it.”
